A wake-up call on gender pay gaps

Fresh WGEA data shows eight of Australia’s 20 largest companies have fewer women in the top pay quartile than the national average of 35%. Men still earn 19% more on a median basis.

Where the gaps are widest

Construction (31.8%), Financial & Insurance Services (26.1%), and TMT (24.2%) lead the pay gap rankings, often due to male-dominated leadership tiers.

Overcoming barriers to leadership

Pay gaps persist because women face structural hurdles reaching senior roles. Companies with >50% female leadership are more likely to offer equal pay—proof that inclusion pays off.

Embrace diversity and empowerment

International Women’s Day #InspireInclusion is a reminder to break stereotypes, support female-driven initiatives, and hold ourselves accountable for equitable workplaces.
