Sebastian Dürr – Founder & CEO, Nord ESG, Dipl.-Ing. (FH)
Sebastian Dürr is a sustainability professional with more than 20 years of work experience. His work at NordESG focuses on ESG helping corporations to navigate their sustainability landscape. He has worked with private and public sector entities, including working with banks in financing renewable energy projects by conducting environmental impact assessment studies and resource assessments. Sebastian is well-versed in regulatory frameworks like CSRD, SFDR and EU Taxonomy as well as in other sustainability reporting frameworks like IFRS/ISSB and GRI. Climate risks and climate change are additional topics he worked on.
Elena Maksimovich – Founder & CEO, Weather Trade Net
Before founding her own technology company, Elena completed a PhD in Geophysics and Climatology, followed by two PostDocs, and gained experience at global insurance companies and hedge funds. As a scientist and entrepreneur, she leads innovation in climate risk management, numerical and mathematical modeling, and satellite monitoring.
With a decade of academic experience, she joined the 6th Assessment Report group of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as an Expert Reviewer in 2019. A dedicated team player, Elena actively contributes to various initiatives, focusing on delivering high-quality scientific information to decision-makers in a structured and user-friendly manner.
She integrates satellite imagery of floods, wildfires, and droughts into agricultural commodity trading, risk hedging, and insurance pricing models, developing analytical tools and predictive models for diverse climate risk management applications.
